The technology giant, which has recently shelved the Note series and turned its main focus to the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series, thinks that in the future foldable devices will leave the mainstream Galaxy S series behind.

“By 2025, foldable devices will account for more than 50 percent of Samsung’s total Premium smartphone shipments,” said TM Roh, Head of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business Unit, in an interview with journalists. In addition, referring to the effects of the current global and economic problems on the premium smartphone market, Roh stated that foldable devices will become a new standard in the future.

According to data from UK-based analyst company Omdia, foldable smartphone shipments increased by 309 percent between 2020 and 2021, reaching a total of 9 million.
