Ice Universe, one of the reliable sources of leaks in the mobile industry, shared important details about Samsung’s new foldable phone. According to the source, the South Korean company will not make any upgrades to the main camera of the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Ice Universe claims that the Fold 5 will use the same ISOCELL GN3 sensor as the Fold 4. As a reminder, it should be noted that the sensor in question offers 50 megapixel resolution, f / 1.8 aperture, 1.0 micron pixel size, Dual Pixel PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
What would be the reason?
Samsung also has the newer and larger ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor used in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, it is reported that it is “impossible” for the company to use this solution, which offers 200 megapixel resolution in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 model.
Ice Universe didn’t go into too much detail on this one. This is probably related to the space limitations imposed by the foldable form factor. The South Korean company will introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5 at the Unpacked event it will hold in August-September.
