Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 was introduced with its brand new design and features

Samsung introduced its new Fan Edition device series (Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Buds FE) yesterday. Since it is not part of the Fan Edition series, the new smart tracking device Galaxy SmartTag 2 was introduced. How much is the price of Galaxy SmartTag 2 and when will it be released?

Galaxy SmartTag 2 price is $30. SmartTag2 will go on sale on October 11 in two different color options: black and white.

Galaxy SmartTag 2 features

Galaxy SmartTag 2 comes with a new design. It has a rectangular shape instead of a rhombus and uses a metal ring to prevent wear and tear. Water and dust resistance has been increased in the new design.

One of the new functions of SmartTag 2 is Lost Mode. What does this do? You enter your contact information. When your smart tracking device is lost, the person who finds it can access your contact information by scanning it using the phone’s NFC. Another new feature is Compass View. Since this feature shows the exact direction of the SmartTag, it becomes much easier to find your belongings. However, it only works with UWB enabled devices. Pet walking mode has also been added.

The new Power Saving Mode can increase battery life up to 700 days. There is a twofold increase compared to the previous generation. SmartTag now lasts longer (up to 500 days, up 50%) in normal mode. Samsung did not explain which features are restricted when power saving mode is on.

With the introduction of SmartTag 2, the SmartThings app has also been updated. SmartThings offers a full-screen map view in its new interface. Additionally, SmartTag2 automatically syncs with your new Galaxy phone using the same Samsung account. The application also allows you to locate your smart tracking device with the phone’s camera by using Bluetooth LE, UWB and Augmented Reality technologies.

In terms of security and privacy, the SmartThings Find app warns you if an unknown SmartTag device is tracking you.
