Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, 2.2 m can withstand concrete falls with a new Gorilla Armor 2 glass attracted attention. The company also claimed that the new glass had the same scratch resistance as Gorilla Armor, a Galaxy S24 Ultra last year. However, the test shows that this is not true.

Deeper scratches occurred at the same hardness level

The Jerryrigeverything channel on Youtube tested the Galaxy S25 Ultra and revealed that the new glass was drawn at level 6, according to MOHS rating. In the scratch test with the Galaxy S24 Ultra last year, the phone showed better resistance at the 6th level and much less scratch on the screen.

Therefore, Gorilla Armor 2 seems to be compromised on scratch resistance, in spite of resistance to falling. In general, harder glasses are more resistant to scratches, as well as tendency to disintegrate against falls. Otherwise, softer glasses are more prone to scratching while absorbing the impact better. For this reason, manufacturers are trying to find a balance point between these two.

Nevertheless, it would not be right to say that the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s glass is very easily drawn. The screen, which offers high resistance to falls, has solved the problem of sandblasting with a very low brightness in the S24 Ultra.
