The Samsung Galaxy S23 models will likely be among the most exciting phones of 2023, and rumors and leaks abound as they get closer to their release. One of the latest leaks shows a comparison for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

A Geekbench listing spotted by MySmartPrice suggests the phone will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. We can’t say this is a big surprise, as the Samsung Galaxy S22 series uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, at least in most regions. However, this is sure to be good news as Gen 2 will be the most powerful chipset available for Android phones by the time Gen 2 Plus or Gen 3 are introduced, possibly in 2023.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 hasn’t been released yet, but it’s expected to debut at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in mid-November. So, it is speculated that the Galaxy S23 series, which is likely to happen in February next year, will be ready for release.

It may be worth noting that this comparison is for the US model of the phone. This makes the chipset used less surprising, as Snapdragon chips are almost always preferred in Samsung’s high-end phones in the region. Some other regions, including the UK, usually get Exynos chipsets instead, but this time around, there are rumors of Snapdragon being used everywhere.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors of the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. For example, a recent spec sheet leak from Yogesh Brar also hinted at this chipset, as reported via PhoneWorld.

The leaked specs appear to be for the standard Samsung Galaxy S23, but it’s not surprising since Samsung generally uses the same chipset across its entire Galaxy S lineup. The rest of the leaked specs are also not included in this leak as they are exactly the same as those of the Galaxy S22 except for the chipset and slightly larger 3,900mAh battery.

But this comparison isn’t just about good news. While that’s more than enough for most users, only 8GB of RAM is mentioned, which isn’t particularly high for an Ultra phone. It’s also not an upgrade over the initial capacity of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Since the more expensive versions of this device go up to 12 GB, it can be predicted that a similar system will be used in the new models.
