Recent claims have shown that Motorala has developed the first phone to use Samsung’s 200 Megapixel camera. While Motorola has yet to confirm these claims, the leaks pointed to July. But Samsung showed us what the 200 Megapixel ISOCELL HP1 is capable of before we have to wait until July.
In the latest video prepared by the South Korean technology giant, the 200 Megapixel ISOCELL HP1 sensor was discussed. Samsung hung the cat photo taken with this camera on a 28 x 22 meter billboard made up of twelve 2.3 meter long pieces.
You may be wondering how the new commercial video featuring Samsung engineers and professional photographers was prepared. Actually, Samsung did not put the ISOCELL HP1 sensor in the smartphone. Instead, the company; prepared a system that includes a test board and an external display.
The purpose of the video was to reveal the details that the HP1 sensor could capture. However, it should not be ignored that the cat picture is optimized by professional photographers. Samsung engineer Minhyuk Lee, who was involved in the photo shoot, said:
“The benefit of the 200 Megapixel image sensor is that it allows users to capture an image that can be zoomed and cropped without sacrificing image quality. The 200 Megapixel image sensor will soon be the optimal solution for 8K video recording.”
Although the new sensor is not used in any smartphone today, it stands out with its technical features such as ChameleonCell pixel grouping technology. ISOCELL HP1 thanks to pixel grouping; It can transform into a 1.28 micron 50 Megapixel camera or a 2.56 micron 12.5 Megapixel camera.
