It turns out that many Samsung smartphones sold in the last few years are bundled with a vulnerability that could allow hackers to steal sensitive information from devices. Researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel have revealed that some Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 phone models do not store their cryptographic keys properly, allowing hackers to effectively extract sensitive data such as passwords stored in them. So this vulnerability has been present on Samsung devices for many years.
Fortunately, we have no cause for concern and the aforementioned issue was reportedly fixed by Samsung soon after it was discovered. The first fix was released with the August 2021 security patch, and then the next vulnerability was fixed with the October 2021 patch. However, the existence of this gap has now been disclosed.
