Samsung appeared at the Unpacked event on February 9 with Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra models. After the release of these devices, it was revealed that the performance of more than 1000 applications and games decreased due to the Game Optimization Service (GOS) installed.
Galaxy S22 series users wanted to disable the Game Optimization Service to prevent this loss of performance, but they reacted when they learned that it was not possible because it is included in the devices as a system application.
Samsung CEO apologizes for Galaxy S22
Speaking to shareholders at today’s meeting, Samsung Device Experience Division CEO JH Han apologized and said that GOS embedded in devices for security only affects the performance of games expressed. With the update released for Galaxy S22s last week, it was made possible for users to choose performance as a priority. However, this update has not reached all users yet.
Han also denied the allegations that the GOS problem was caused by the company’s cost-cutting efforts, and said that Samsung did not sacrifice quality to cut costs. Claims made to Samsung in this regard were that GOS was used because there was not enough heat dissipation in the S22 series.
South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission has launched an investigation for this incident in the Galaxy S22 series.
