Wanting to produce quality phones to set an example for the Android world, Google has been the subject of discussion with the Pixel family for a long time. The company, which failed especially with Pixel 4, started to use the specially developed Tensor chipset with Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which it introduced last year. Although the Tensor processor cannot compete with the last generation Snapdragon or Apple A processors, it has proven itself as a successful price performance processor with the affordable price of the Pixel 6 family. The company, which will also use the Tensor processor in the Pixel 7 family, will continue to invest in the Tensor series.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 features revealed
Samsung will also develop the third-generation Tensor processor
Although Google claimed that the Tensor processor was designed by Google, the source codes and documents revealed that the processor was based on Exynos. The Pixel 7, which is expected to go on sale in the coming weeks, will also have a second-generation Tensor processor based on Samsung.
According to information from GalaxyClub, Samsung has also started work on the third generation Tensor processor. Tensor 3, which will most likely be used in the Pixel 8 family, is being developed under the codename Ripcurrent. Although the original Tensor processor offers high performance, it lagged behind the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 especially in terms of energy efficiency. We hope that Google and Samsung will take important steps in energy efficiency while increasing the performance of the Tensor processor.
