Artificial intelligence has been on the agenda lately, especially with end-user-oriented tools. ChatGPT, Midjourney and other similar artificial intelligence tools contribute to the daily and professional lives of individuals. However, South Korean technology giant Samsung is not very happy with this situation. The company even banned all its employees from using artificial intelligence tools. Samsung employees will continue to run the legacy system business.
You will have those who remember; ChatGPT fell victim to a massive data leak about a month ago. This is exactly what Samsung is trying to prevent. Having detected that some of its employees have uploaded sensitive data and code to ChatGPT, Samsung took such a decision to prevent them from being disclosed due to a possible leak. A representative from Samsung confirmed what happened.
Those who continue to use artificial intelligence despite the decision may be fired
A Samsung internal memo obtained by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals that the company is very strict about the use of artificial intelligence. So much so that the personnel who continue to use artificial intelligence despite the decision may be fired from their jobs. That memo reads in full: “We ask that you follow our security guidelines diligently, and failure to do so may result in a breach or compromise of company information. This may result in disciplinary action, including termination.”
All this does not mean that Samsung is against artificial intelligence. The South Korean technology giant includes artificial intelligence in all its products, from mobile phones to refrigerators. In addition, the company continues to work on special artificial intelligence tools that only its personnel can use. It is not clear at what stage the company is in this regard, but Samsung seems to place artificial intelligence at the center of critical positions with its work.
