Samsung Announces ‘Speech Speech’ Feature

‘Bixby’, Samsung’s voice assistant launched in 2017, was even on phones with its own physical key at the time. However, when the voice assistant could not find a response in the users, Samsung found the solution to remove this physical key.

Although Bixby is still not widely used today, Samsung announced an important feature for its assistant today. With the new OneUI 5 update coming soon, Bixby will allow you to answer incoming calls by typing.

You will be able to ‘talk’ with the person in front of you by texting

The new ‘The Bixby Text Call’ feature, which will come with OneUI 5, will allow you to talk to the person in front of you by typing text as if you are writing a message, without speaking during the call. The text you type will be translated from text to audio by the Bixby assistant. In addition, the conversations of the person in front of you will be shown as text instantly.

According to Samsung, the conversation analyzed by Bixby during this call will not be recorded on company servers. The audio files of the speech will be deleted after each voice to translation conversion.

Samsung’s new feature will only be available in its home country of South Korea at first. It is not yet known when the feature will support English and other languages.
