“New models are becoming much more complex”
Sam Altman explained that ChatGPT’s updated models have become more complex, hindering OpenAI’s ability to work on multiple updates simultaneously. Apparently, computing power is another major hurdle, forcing OpenAI to make difficult decisions about implementing new ideas.
“We’re prioritizing delivering O1 and its successors. All these models have become quite complex, and we can’t deliver as many things at once as we’d like (We also face many limitations and difficult decisions about how to allocate our computing power to many great ideas),” Altman said. “We do not have a date yet for Advanced Sound Mode.”
Additionally, Altman said in another answer that OpenAI will release very good versions later this year. Stating that all work on ChatGPT’s updated models will continue to be impressive, Altman emphasized that nothing OpenAI is currently working on deserves the GPT-5 title.
ChatGPT-5 is seen as a major milestone for OpenAI. The new version is expected to be as big a leap as the move from GPT-3 to GPT-4. It is stated that GPT-5 will offer a human-like artificial intelligence experience that makes you feel like you are talking to a human instead of a machine.
