SafeMoon Close to Agreement with Hacker on Return of Funds
The SafeMoon development team announced that 80 percent of the funds lost in a hack that took place last March will be refunded. SafeMoon, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol running on the Binance Coin chain, lost $8.9 million in BNB after the attack. It was stated that the remaining 20 percent of the attacker will be kept.
According to an April 18 Blockchain message from the SafeMoon Deployer account, it has reached a settlement with the attacker. It was reported that 80 percent of the returned amount was accepted. The attacker will keep the remaining portion as a reward. Additionally, the SafeMoon team has agreed not to take any legal action.
Similar hacking events have been increasing in DeFi protocols recently. The attacker, who stole $196 million from Euler Finance, returned almost all of the funds earned from the attack and issued an apology message.
