Greg Hildebrandt, one of the leading names in the fantasy and science fiction world, passed away at the age of 85. Known for his work on iconic works such as Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and Marvel, the artist has had a long and successful career.
Greg Hildebrandt started his career with his twin brother Tim and they were known as the “Hildebrandt Brothers”. They were especially appreciated with the “Style B” poster of the 1977 movie Star Wars. It was an unforgettable visual of Luke Skywalker raising his lightsaber into the air, and also featuring Princess Leia, C-3PO and R2-D2.

Greg Hildebrandt has also undertaken many important projects in his solo career. Hildebrandt chose to use her art not only in the entertainment world but also in social responsibility projects. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he contributed illustrations to the US Operation charity anthology comic book series, and the proceeds were donated to aid Ukrainian refugees.
