Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra came with new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor. Currently the highest resolution camera sensor on the market, but not the largest in terms of sensor size. Samsung plans to use the same 200MP ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and even the S25 Ultra. Ice Universe claims that Samsung won’t switch to a 5x telephoto camera on the S24 Ultra. Rumors had previously emerged that the 3x telephoto camera would not be used in the new model.
This improvement is not surprising considering Samsung uses the same 108MP camera on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra. Looking at its competitors, Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to use Sony’s 1/1.14 inch 48MP camera sensor. It is said that this sensor will perform similarly to the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor used by Chinese brands such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi. If this happens, Samsung will lag behind not only its Chinese rivals, but also Apple.
