Apple supply chain analyst Jeff PU claims that aluminum frames will be used in iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Air with a thin design expects a titanium frame.

iPhone 17 pro’lar can have an aluminum frame instead of titanium

This will be a significant change for Pro models; iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro’s have a titanium frame. This causes the devices to be lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro models with a heavier stainless steel frame.

PU says Apple plans to use aluminum in iPhone 17 Pro because of its environmental sensitivity. Aluminum has a lower carbon footprint than titanium. Apple aims to reach carbon neutrality for all its products and supply chain by 2030. Interestingly, the iPhone 17 Air is said to use a mixture of titanium aluminum to provide subtlety and lightness of Apple.
