AMD continues to work on the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000WX “Storm Peak” series. The performance information of the top model Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX, which is part of the new series, has come to light. The new processor, which is a true flagship, is far ahead of its predecessor both in terms of core count and performance.

Threadripper Pro 7995WX performance points to a beast

A few days ago, we told you that some processors of the new Threadripper series have appeared. Threadripper Pro 7995WX, which is among these processors, now appears in the Geekbench 5 test.

A beast with 96 cores and 192 threads, the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX will replace the current Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5995WX as AMD’s flagship workstation CPU, providing a 50 percent increase in core count. On the performance side, this processor will be at least 70 percent faster than its predecessor.

In terms of specs, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX processor will be based on Zen 4 with 96 cores, 192 threads and clocked at around 5.15 GHz. The processor comes with 384MB of L3 cache, 96MB of L2 cache and is expected to run at a maximum TDP of 350W.

In terms of performance, the CPU scores 2095 in single-core tests. This value is similar to a desktop equivalent Ryzen 7000 CPU, but on the multi-core performance side, the performance is mind-blowing. The processor seems to have achieved an enormous score of 81,408 points in the multi-threaded benchmark. This score represents a 70 percent (48,025 points) increase over the current flagship Threadripper Pro 5995WX, with all cores overclocked to 4.35 GHz in a water-cooled setup. If a stock chip were compared, the performance difference would be much larger.

In the same test, Intel’s overclocked and specially cooled Xeon W9-3495X (56 Cores / 5.3 GHz – LN2) processor scores approximately 73 thousand points. So when the Threadripper PRO 7995WX hits the market, it won’t be hard to beat the 100,000 threshold in Geekbench 5 with custom cooling and overclocking.

If all goes well, the next generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” series processors are expected to launch in late 2023. We expect more information on this subject to come in the coming months.
