Leaks continue to come from AMD’s highly anticipated new generation Zen 4 architecture. Red Gaming Tech has managed to reach the first details of the Zen 4 mobile processors, which will be divided into two series within the new architecture.
Splits into Dragon Range and Phoenix
Reportedly, responding directly to Intel’s Alder Lake-HX series with the Dragon Range series, which is at the top of the new mobile series, AMD will prioritize CPU performance in exchange for less GPU power. Thus, new processors are expected to have clock speeds of 4.8 GHz to 5.0 GHz, while RDNA 2 integrated graphics solutions will include 2 computing units.
The flagships of the Dragon Range series, which consists of a total of 4 models in the leaked list, will be the 16-core Ryzen 9 7980HX and the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900HX. Ryzen 7 7800HX and Ryzen 5 7600HX, which will come with 8 to 6 cores, respectively, will take their place in mid-range models.
The AMD Phoenix series, which comes with a lower power consumption and more capable RDNA 3 integrated graphics, will give priority to APU systems over Dragon Range. In addition, the new series, which aims at the range of 35 to 45W in power consumption values, will be presented to users with a configuration with 6 to 12 graphics processing units and 1536 stream processors compared to Dragon Range.
At the top of AMD Phoenix, which consists of 4 models, Ryzen 9 7980HS, 7900HS and Ryzen 7 7800HS, which come with 8 cores and 12 graphics processing units, are located, while the middle class Ryzen 5 7600HS will have 6 cores and 6 graphics processing units.
Also among the shared information is that AMD’s new integrated RDNA 3 solution may come with a clock speed in the range of 2.6 to 3.0 GHz and reach a performance of 9.2 TFLOPs. With these values, the new GPU could approach the Nvidia RTX 3060 Max-Q in a higher TDP configuration.
