Reviews of AMD’s highly anticipated 3D V-Cache processor Ryzen 7 7800X3D have begun to surface. Performance benchmarks shared by AMD have apparently been confirmed by unbiased reviews. However, the main difference is in power consumption.

Ryzen 7 7800X3D could be the best solution for gaming

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D will be available starting April 6, with a price tag of $449. Today, test embargoes have been lifted and reviews have begun to be published. According to the published test results, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is clearly faster than the Intel Core 13900K in gaming performance. In some cases, it can even surpass the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Although the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is generally behind its high-end sibling, the difference is quite low in games. Considering that the price of Ryzen 9 7950X3D is $ 699, we can say that this difference is at a level that cannot be taken into account.

The main difference is in power consumption

Where the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is strongest is actually power consumption, not games. The processor achieves maximum performance with radically low power consumption in both applications and games. Although AMD has set a TDP of 120W for the 7800X3D, tests show that the processor runs around 50-65W in games. Temperature values vary between 70-85 degrees, which is a very good value. Most tests mention that the processor reaches a maximum power consumption of 86W. Temperatures also rarely see 85 degrees.

On the other hand, it is seen that the Core i9 13900K consumes between 170-200W in some games and over 250W in applications. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D also consumes less power than the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Core i7-13700K. The weak point of the processor is in the area of productivity. In professional applications, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D lags behind the Core i9 13900K.
