APPSIM (Association of Professional Users of Social Networks and Messengers) Telegram Channel has provided many leaks regarding the Russian-made phone that will be released next year. According to this leak, Russian company ROSA is working to develop a phone called Р-ФОН (R-FON) designed to be manufactured and sold in Russia.
R-FON will be released next year with a native Linux-based operating system called ROSA OS. It will use a custom version of Android along with the app store, so it is expected to be compatible with Android apps and APKs.
It looks like the centerpiece of the phone will be the MediaTek Helio G99, an 8-core and one-year-old processor built on 6nm. The SOC has the ARM Mali-G57 MP2 graphics chip and the CPU can reach speeds of up to 2.2 GHz. Its performance is comparable to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, as this processor scores 717 for single-core and 1940 for multi-core in Geekbench 6.
The example shown in the pictures includes 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The three-camera setup, including its 50MP primary camera, bears quite a resemblance to the Vivo V25e, which also includes the same Helio G99 SOC. The front earpiece grille also looks almost identical to this model.
There is a fingerprint sensor on the right side of the phone, which also acts as a power button, and a sim card tray with two slots on the left. R-FON will also feature a 5,000 mAh battery, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C and NFC.
An unboxing video posted by Zykov from APPSIM shows the box being packed with phone, charger, type-C cable and a transparent protective case.
The phone will be manufactured in Russia by Rutek JSC, which also manufactures laptops and other electronic devices, while some parts such as SOC will be imported. The operating system is targeted to be available to corporate and government customers by the end of this year, and to enter the consumer market in 2024.
