A local alternative for Instagram, which was banned in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine, was developed. Russian entrepreneurs announced the new social network Rossgram, which they called the “analogue of the Instagram network”. Here is the new social media platform called Rossgram.

What is Rossgram? How to use Rossgram?

According to the information provided on the website, Rossgram will be released for Android and iOS on March 28, 2022. The new platform, which will appeal to users in both the web and mobile market, will be defined as the Russian analogue of Instagram. Access for all users will begin in April 2022.

Rossgram developer Alexander Zobov is an entrepreneur known for working with VKontakte and Telegram founder Pavel Durov. Zobov believes that with his own social network, Russian media will become freer.

Zobov’s statement says that the service will be offered first to Russia’s most popular social media influencers (bloggers, YouTubers and corporate partners).

Although the team behind the project is not yet known, the founders are two entrepreneurs, Alexander Zobov and Kirill Filimonov, according to Rossgram’s website. Rossgram’s Head of Internet Marketing used the following statements in his statement:

“My partner Kirill Filimonov and our developer group were actually ready to build such a social media. Our compatriots decided not to miss the opportunity to make the Russian equivalent of the well-known social network (it talks about Instagram).”

Earlier last week, Russia officially started the Instagram ban, but many users continued to access social media using VPN services. But it seems that the VPN move will not be enough.

Russia’s media regulator, Roskomnadzor, said about 20 popular VPN services were blocked. Some of the blocked VPN services are: Hola, ExpressVPN, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited, Nord VPN, Speedify VPN and IPVanish VPN.
