Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced in early June that it had found a number of iPhone-infecting tracking software used by country officials, including diplomatic workers residing in NATO countries.
iPhone ban on Russian government employees
On top of all these developments, Russian government employees were banned from using iPhones for official business due to concerns about spying operations. Russian government employees are warned not to access work-related content on Apple devices.
The FSB claimed in June that the US was working with Apple to create control and spying tools. Apple, on the other hand, announced that they do not and will never work with any government to provide confidential transportation for their products.

Russia, on the other hand, has decided to impose a counter-sanction on Apple, which has frequently expressed its reaction to the Ukrainian invasion and bans the use of Russian debit cards through Apple Pay. President Putin also made a statement regarding the reduction of dependence on western technologies. Putin also stated that Android devices should be used instead of iPhone models.
On the other hand, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his concerns about any smartphone that risks revealing sensitive information. Upon this announcement, the transition to Aurora, a Linux-based mobile operating system, is expected to increase in Russia.
