Announcing the RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 graphics cards with Ada Lovelace architecture today, Nvidia does not miss the Ampere architecture. If we remember, we mentioned that the mid-level card RTX 3060 Ti model will be updated with GDDR6X memory last October. Now the GALAX RTX 3060 Ti G6X OC has been tested by Poland-based tech site ITHardware.

First results shared for RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X memory

Reportedly, the new RTX 3060 Ti shares the same 4864 CUDA cores and GA104 chip as its predecessor. The only difference between the two cards will be the upgrade from 14Gbps GDDR6 memory to 19Gbps GDDR6X. This upgrade, which will come with a power consumption of 225W, about 10 percent higher than its sibling, indicates that the theoretical maximum bandwidth will be reached from 448 GB / s to 608 GB / s.

Looking at the shared tests, the new RTX 3060 Ti provides a performance increase of 1 to 2 percent compared to the GDDR6 version. However, due to the fact that the ASUS RTX 3060 Ti TUF model used in the tests is factory overclocked (1665 to 1755MHz), we may encounter different results in terms of performance gain. Because such tests should be carried out between models with similar characteristics.

However, the shared results show that the RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X will be faster than its predecessor. The difference here is not a double-digit increase, but we can say that it will go beyond 1 to 2 percent. In addition, the Polish source says that the new card has been successfully overclocked to 1815 MHz, thus offering 4 percent to 6 percent higher performance than the GDDR6X RTX 3060 Ti stock settings.
