Recently, we shared with you that a meteorologist, Eric Berger, announced that a SpaceX rocket will hit the Moon. It was stated that this rocket, developed by SpaceX, the space company of Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, is a ‘Falcon 9’ and was sent to space in February 2015.
Additionally, it was noted in the statements that Falcon 9, which took the DISCVR observation satellite into space in 2015, went out of control and had been floating in space for 7 years. Adding to his words that the rocket is predicted to hit the Moon on March 4, Berger conveyed an important development regarding this situation in a new news he published. Berger stated that with the new statements made, it was determined that the rocket that will hit the Moon is not SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
A Chinese rocket launched in 2014 may hit the Moon
According to new news, astronomers said that the object that will hit the Moon is not SpaceX’s rocket, He began to say that it was likely to be a rocket launched by China in 2014. According to Berger, engineer Jon Giorgini working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory was the first to realize that the object did not belong to Falcon 9.
DSCOVR satellite is not close enough to the Moon; Therefore, Giorgini, who found that the possibility of a crash of any of the Falcon 9 stages was unrealistic, immediately informed the researcher Bill Gray, who first published the news, about the subject. Gray then began evaluating other potential candidates.
Continuing his investigations, Gray soon found a new candidate. Pointing to China’s Chang’e 5-T1 mission to the Moon in October 2014, Gray announced that the data collected from the rocket used in this mission and the launch date exactly match the object that will hit the Moon. Finally, the famous researcher said that the new findings about the object that is expected to hit on March 4, 2022 are convincing; therefore, he added that the probability of a Chinese rocket hitting the Moon is quite high.
