Robinhood Wallet has finally announced that it has started adding support for Shiba Inu (SHIB) and other cryptos. The company today launched Robinhood Wallet, a smartphone app that allows users to exchange and transfer cryptocurrencies and view NFTs and crypto held. According to Robinhood, it’s currently slowly rolling out to over 1 million waitlisted users via an access code. It was previously released in beta to only 10,000 customers in September. Here are the details…

Robinhood announces wallet app: SHIB is also supported

Robinhood has finally launched its highly anticipated cryptocurrency wallet called Robinhood Wallet, a smartphone app that allows users to transfer and trade crypto assets, including Shiba Inu (SHIB). In an announcement on Twitter yesterday, Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood’s crypto division, said that the company has begun rolling out the wallet to 1 million users on the waiting list. Kerbrat used the following statements:

We’ve started offering Robinhood Wallet to our waiting list of over 1 million people. We’ve made some great changes based on customer feedback since the beta program and we’re excited to experience them.

Many innovations recorded for the wallet

The wallet has made a big improvement after the beta program. Originally using Polygon, Robinhood Wallet has added support for the Ethereum network. Thanks to Ethereum support, Robinhood Wallet users can now buy, sell and transfer selected ERC-20 tokens such as Shiba Inu. Users include Shiba Inu, as well as Solana (SOL), Compound (COMP), Uniswap (UNI), Axie Infinity (AXS), Curve (CRV), Ankr (ANKR), Ethereum Name Service (ENS). They can also access more than ten ERC-20 tokens. Kerbrat noted that Robinhood Wallet now also supports Ethereum and Polygon-based NFTs.

Robinhood originally referred to a new transfer feature in the original trading app as a “Crypto Wallet” product. The feature became available in beta in January 2022, eventually allowing Robinhood users to transfer cryptocurrencies to and from the platform. It wasn’t really a “wallet”; Users can transfer crypto to and from Coinbase, Kraken, Binance or any other crypto trading app. But the Robinhood Wallet, available today, looks more like MetaMask, Phantom, or Coinbase Wallet.

Robinhood only provides iOS support

Kerbrat has announced that the wallet is currently only available for iOS mobile devices. He added that iOS mobile users joining the waitlist will be able to use Robinhood Wallet via an access code. “We will share access codes that will allow customers to log into the Robinhood Wallet iOS app, so be sure to check your emails,” he said.

Kerbrat added that the Robinhood Wallet will receive $5 after users download the app. Specifically, Robinhood will make the wallet available to iOS users who join the waiting list in the coming weeks and months. Robinhood said it will roll out Android support later this year. Robinhood, as we reported as Kriptokoin.com, launched the Shiba Inu trading in April 2022.
