Many countries, especially China and the USA, focused on space studies. A crew of three was sent to build the Tiangong space station. The crew, also known as the Shenzhou-14 crew, will speed up work on station construction.

China gears up for the Tiangong space station

According to CNN, the team set off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert. Reaching the Tianhe (Harmony of the Heavens) crew module yesterday evening, the team started working.

The dispatched team has an important role to complete China’s Tiangong. The astronauts assigned for the 6-month study will activate the first laboratory module next month. The Tiangong space station has two important laboratory modules. It is estimated that the second module will be activated in October 2022.

China announced that the construction of the station will be completed by the end of the year if there is no setback. China will conduct microgravity and life science research with modules to be activated in Tiangong.

Liu Yang, who became the first Chinese woman to go into space nearly a decade ago during the Shenzhou-9 mission, also took part in the Shenzhou-14 mission. The Tiangong space station will be about one-fifth the size of the International Space Station when completed.
