Riot Games, which has a presence in the game world with online multiplayer productions, sued China-based publisher NetEase for making a copy of Valorant. The popular publisher claims to be a Valorant “clone” of five-on-five shooter HyperFront, which was released on Android and iOS in 2022.

Many details in the game are similar to Valorant

According to the information in the case file, Riot Games says that many details in Hyper Front, including maps, characters, accessories, weapons and weapon skins, are similar to Valorant. Also, warning NetEase about this similarity, the company stated that Hyper Front started development shortly after Valorant’s first version “Project A” appeared in October 2019.

Reportedly, NetEase has made minor design changes within the game after complaints that HyperFront is a copy of Valorant. However, Riot Games said that despite this change, it went beyond the infringement level.

To recall, the lawsuit filed by Riot Games against Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was recently dismissed in the United States on the grounds that the matter pertains to China. The company, which brought the case against NetEase to the high court of England and Wales, thinks that the game will not get rid of copyright infringement.
