When you first watched the video above, you may have thought everything was going well. An X user noticed something strange in the shot taken with the iPhone 15. So much so that during the shooting, a part of the statue, which is the main element of the video, was occasionally out of the camera frame. However, no such interruption was visible while watching the footage. Due to this difference, the user stopped doubting that the published video was shot with an iPhone. So let’s ask: How can the iPhone 15 show the image coming out of the frame in the video output?
All cameras originally shoot 4:3. Therefore, when shooting video in 16:9 format, the image is cropped from the edges. Additionally, when the anti-vibration mode is turned on, the camera application zooms the image slightly so that it extends out of the frame. So, in the example above, although we see the statue leaving the frame on the screen, the phone actually records the image of the entire statue.
Thus, even if you shake the camera while shooting, the software can add the part outside the frame to the video and create a shake-free, clean video. In other words, when you take a photo with the anti-vibration feature turned on, your phone actually records an image at a wider angle than what you see on the screen and enhances this image as necessary with the software.
