While the tension between Russia and Ukraine continues, the USA and many European countries continue to announce their embargo plans against Russia. Russia, which received reactions from major technology companies as well as countries, started to block access to Facebook and Twitter by retaliating against social media platforms.
Russian state accounts were restricted
As it is known, Facebook imposed restrictions on Facebook and Instagram accounts linked to Russian state media, while Twitter began to add warnings to tweets linked to these accounts. However, TikTok and Google joined the movement, which received a great response from Russia, and announced that it blocked RT, Sputnik media channels in the USA and Europe.
New embargo from USA to Russia: Stopping chip supply
Making new statements on Friday, Russian authorities announced that Facebook, Twitter, BBC, Deutsche Welle and many services were closed in Russia, referring to the blocking of state media outlets. As of new statements, sources report that Instagram and Google Play Store services continue in the country, but Facebook and Twitter cannot be accessed even through VPN.
