Unfortunately, last year was not a very busy year in terms of gaming, as it was the first year of consoles. However, one of the games took me to my childhood and gave me great pleasure. Yes, I’m talking about Resident Evil Village. Since Resident Evil Village is similar to Resident Evil 4, I can easily say that it is one of my favorite games. While I have directed all my excitement towards Resident Evil 4 Remake, I can say that I am very happy to see Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose, which is the subject of this article. Because it both adds a new story mission to the Resident Evil Village, which I have tasted, and a mode that we can play from the third-person perspective of the camera angle that we are used to in the series.

Actually, this Gold Edition package made its debut in the past weeks, but as you know, the game world has been quite busy for the last few weeks. So unfortunately I experienced it a little late. But from the start, I can say that I missed Resident Evil Village and this new version would satisfy me, at least until Resident Evil 4 Remake. First of all, let’s list what is included in this Gold Edition:

  • Resident Evil Re:Verse
  • Resident Evil Village Street Wolf Outfit
  • Resident Evil Village Trauma Pack
  • Resident Evil Village Winters Expansion
  • And of course the game itself

There isn’t really much to talk about the Trauma Pack and Street Wold Outfit. The main content to watch out for in this pack are Resident Evil Re:Verse and Resident Evil Village Winters Expansion. Let’s start with the Resident Evil Village Winters Expansion.

Resident Evil Village Winters Expansion

The most important content in this expansion pack is undoubtedly the story DLC called Shadows of Rose. In this DLC, we control the grown up version of Ethan’s daughter Rose, who has been our main character in the last two games. Let’s warn those who haven’t played the main game, don’t play this DLC, they should play the main game first. I have two different expectations in such story DLCs. Either I wait for him to explain to us in detail an event that is not fully explained in the main game, or I want him to tell me the point where the story will connect with the next game, with a different mechanic or a different region. For this DLC, I think the latter is valid but not quite.

This DLC takes us to two different regions and we try to escape from there by solving puzzles and experiencing fearful moments as in the main game. The only difference in terms of gameplay is that Rose has power. But this power does not go beyond solving puzzles in most of the game. I’m not complaining about this, don’t get me wrong, the gameplay offered by the game was quite enough for me. Thanks to this power, it is an extra beauty that a different puzzle mechanic has come. These two places where the DLC takes us is where I get angry. Because we are going once again where we went in the main game. This obviously upset me a bit because I would like to see a different region as it is a continuation of the story or a connection point with the next game. However, this situation did not bother me much because it took a very short time to learn what and where during the nervous tour. When we evaluate the story in the DLC itself, we can say that it is an ordinary story, it does not have such a big purpose. But if this DLC is used in connection with the next game, it will of course be more enjoyable for those who play the DLC. By the way, the duration of the game is also short, you can finish the DLC in about 5 hours.

The other detail that should be mentioned about the Resident Evil Village Winters Expansion package about the DLC is the third-person perspective mode. Thanks to this package, you can play either the main game or the DLC with this camera angle. I played the DLC completely in this mode and I can say that I really enjoyed it. That’s why it’s definitely a nice innovation. I hope the next game comes with these two options from the very beginning. If I have to make my final comment about the DLC in general, I can say that it is a DLC that I enjoy, especially with the third-person perspective mode. Unfortunately, the DLC doesn’t put anything significant on top of the main game. If you have enjoyed playing the main game like me and are currently waiting for Resident Evil 4 Remake, you will definitely enjoy taking a look at this package. But for the main game, you don’t need to look at this DLC if it’s just a game logic for you.

Resident Evil Re:Verse

We come to Resident Evil Re:Verse. Unfortunately, there is not much I can say here because the game is very low in content. Yes, it has good potential. It can offer an enjoyable experience, but unfortunately not at the moment. The characters are limited, the maps are limited and there are technical problems as well. But as I said, the potential for a fun experience is very high. If Capcom suddenly gives up and does not leave the game like that and continues the content, this game may become much more enjoyable in the future.
