Although flying cars cannot reach the end user due to technical inadequacy, many companies come up with concept models. The French automaker shared its flying car concept, which it calls Air4, for the 60th anniversary of its iconic model, Renault 4.
The Renault 4, which was produced for 33 years and became popular with more than eight million sales in nearly 100 countries, was discontinued in 1994. Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the emergence of the Renault 4 model, the company came up with a different concept.
Flying car concept from the legendary model: Renault Air4
The concept model, which emerged as a result of collaboration with Florida-based design studio TheArsenale, was liked by many. Described as an electric flying car, the model looks like a giant quadcopter.
The model with carbon fiber details has a front hinged door and a single seat. Making a statement about the concept model, Renault stated that it can fly at an altitude of about 2300 feet (700 meters). In addition, the vehicle can fly at 85 feet (26 meters) per second.
The model, which has a 90,000 mAh battery, is different from the original Renault 4, with LED lighting and a curved body design. The design, which is quite ambitious, is almost the intersection point of the past and the future.
Renault manager Arnaud Belloni said: “After a year of celebration, we wanted to make Renault 4’s 60th anniversary memorable with an extraordinary closing. The Renault Air4, which was created thanks to the collaboration with TheArsenale, gives a clue about what future vehicles will look like. ” he said.
The concept model will be on display at the Atelier Renault complex on the Champs Elysees in Paris from November 29 to December 31. The model, which is stated to be exhibited together with Renault 4 models, will meet with automobile enthusiasts in Miami and New York in 2022.
