There have been noticeable hikes in automobile prices for the last few months. This is the case not only in Turkey, but throughout the world. The reason for the hikes has been shown as “increasing costs” until now. Renault’s recently appointed CEO has announced that car prices will increase even more.
Car prices will increase due to chip problem and rising costs
Although this statement does not contain certainty yet, it is very difficult to say otherwise. Because there is a semiconductor crisis that has been going on for a long time, along with this, there are increases in production costs. According to Luca de Meo, CEO of France-based manufacturer Renault, prices will increase further in the next 12 months.

Luca de Meo warning about car prices
The main reasons are shown in the continuation of this statement made by the CEO to the Spanish newspaper. First, of course, is the chip crisis. The production problem, which has become a problem with the pandemic suddenly catching the whole world, has caused the closure of automobile factories today. This problem is followed by increased production costs of steel, gas, copper and aluminum. These two serious problems could significantly increase new car prices in the coming months.
If these price hikes are in question, it will of course be reflected in our country. Because while automobiles are imported, exchange rates such as Dollar and Euro have the right to speak. For example, if the car, which was sold for 30,000 dollars, will be sold for 35,000 dollars from now on, we will feel the effect of this on the price.
