Instagram, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, announced last year that it continues to work on a special version for children aged 13 and under, but announced that it suspended the project due to the reactions. Fairplay, an association established for the protection of children in the USA, served the open letter that a group of religious people in the country wrote to Mark Zuckerberg. In this letter, it was stated that the suspension of Instagram Kids was not enough, the project should be canceled completely. So why do religious people think such a thing?

In the letter to Mark Zuckerberg, “We do not think that social media platforms that target immature minds, engage in unethical data mining, and for-profit are not a tool for the good of children.” statements were included. Religious people, who stated that they were happy when they heard that the project was suspended after the reactions, but were horrified that the project was not completely abandoned, declared that they did not want the project to be brought to the agenda again.
