Valve has released the new results of the company’s monthly Steam hardware and software survey. The May 2022 report shows that Windows 11 continues its steady climb, approaching 20%.
Windows 11 usage rose from 18.94% to 19.59% in May 2022, meaning that nearly one in five Steam users upgraded to Microsoft’s latest operating system. Despite the healthy growth of Windows 11, Windows 10 continues to lead with 73.89% (+0.34 points). Microsoft plans to support Windows 10 until at least 2025, so it would be reasonable not to expect Windows 10 to suffer a significant loss any time soon.
Legacy Windows lost some points in the past month, but their overall market share remains just over 3%. Overall, 96.68% (+0.37 points) of Steam users prefer Windows to other operating systems. Apple’s macOS has a share of 2.20% (-0.35 points), while Linux is third with only 1.12% (-0.02 points).
In terms of hardware, here are the most popular processors, graphics cards and configurations that Steam customers use to play their favorite games:
- CPU: Speeds between 2.3 and 2.69 GHz 4-core CPUs. Intel has 67.19% (-1.23 points) and AMD 32.8% (+1.24 points).
