Continuing its commercial life as a sub-brand of Chinese technology giant Xiaomi, Redmi introduced a mind-blowing new fast charging technology. This technology, which offers full 300-watt fast charging support, charged a special Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition with a 4,100 mAh battery in just 5 minutes.
Although fast charging support is important for many users, smartphones are not durable enough to withstand ultra-high powers. As the speed increases, it becomes increasingly difficult to protect the health of the smartphone, especially the battery. Being aware of this, Redmi states that it uses a series of special technologies for 300-watt fast charging technology, and that more than 50 protection elements are integrated.
It is unclear whether Redmi’s 300-watt fast charging technology will be available
Redmi did not give details about fast charging technology in its statement on Weibo. In other words, it is not yet clear whether this technology will reach smartphones. When we look at other smartphones in the industry, we see that 45-66W fast charging is quite common and accepted by consumers. So, are there any phones that offer higher-speed charging support than these? Of course there is. To give a simple example, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition has 210 watts of fast charging.
The technology company shared a video about the fast charging support it developed. This video shows that the phone with an empty battery is charged to 5 percent in just 30 seconds. The 50 percent charge time of the phone takes a little more than 2 minutes. When we come to the 5th minute, we see that the phone is 100% charged. We will see together whether a phone with 300 watt fast charging support will be released.
