Reddit announced Sunday night that a company employee was attacked by phishing, resulting in theft of credentials required to log into Reddit’s internal system.

Reddit: User information not stolen

Hackers gained access to “some documents, source code and business systems”. Contact details of Reddit staff and some advertiser data were also leaked. It is stated that the company’s security team has revoked the hackers’ access to the system and they are investigating the incident.

There is currently no evidence that the “leaked” information is being distributed on the internet. Although no user credentials were stolen, Reddit recommends forum members turn on two-factor authentication and use password managers.
