Rockstar’s two major series in recent years, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, continue to fascinate players. While the company is currently working on GTA 6, the Red Dead Redemption 3 announcement may have come from an unexpected name.
Rockstar owner says RDR 3 will come out years later
Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, held a new meeting of investors. From the information revealed at the meeting, it was confirmed that the third production of the Red Dead Redemption series is in development. However, according to the company executive, RDR 3 will not debut anytime soon.
In a statement to investors, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick compared Red Dead Redemption to James Bond. “If a series is really great, it will continue,” Zelnick said. I think Red Dead Redemption is one of them.”
Zelnick also warned investors that big productions like RDR are in no rush to “create anticipation.” “We take the time to do something we think is outstanding and at the same time deliberately rest certain series. Thus, there is suppressed demand for that series.”
The last game of the series, Red Dead Redemption 2, was released in 2018 after an eight-year wait. Developed for both PC and console compared to the first game, this production is seen as one of the best games of all time.
Rockstar Games is currently focused on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. Considering that GTA 6 will be released in 2024-25, there are probably years before a new RDR game is released. In fact, the first estimates are that it will reach the 2030s.
