We’ve heard from multiple sources that every model in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will use a USB-C charging port instead of a Lightning port, but according to the latest news, the iPhone 15 Pro – and possibly the iPhone 15 Ultra – will be the base model, according to the iPhone 15 with the port. It will have two important advantages.
First of all, it is among the leaks that the iPhone 15 Pro will support Thunderbolt 3 data transfer speeds in addition to USB-C 3.2 data transfer speeds, while the standard iPhone 15 will only support USB 3.2. Thunderbolt 3 speeds can reach 40Gbps, while USB-C 3.2 speeds can go up to 20Gbps, meaning the iPhone 15 Pro can transfer files much faster.
In addition, it is claimed that the Thunderbolt 3 version, which will be included in the iPhone 15 Pro, will also be compatible with 4K monitors. In other words, iPhone 15 Pro owners will be able to view certain types of content on a separate screen. This also means that – as with high-end iPads – there will be no need to buy expensive adapter accessories.
Of course, these are leaks for now. It’s hard to predict what Apple will do, but considering that many claims about iPhones have come true so far, Apple may not mislead us this time.
