Realme introduced its newest flagship phone GT5 Pro in China today. The new phone is the first Pro model flagship device released by the Chinese technology giant since the GT2 Pro, which was introduced at the beginning of 2022.
Realme GT5 Pro offers generally similar features to the OnePlus 12, which was introduced a few days ago. However, it also has interesting features such as controlling the phone with hand gestures without touching it.
Introducing Realme GT5 Pro
The phone, which comes with differences in design such as a textured structure on the back, has a 6.78-inch QHD + AMOLED screen that offers a 120 Hz refresh rate. We also see a 2,160 Hz touch sampling rate and a smartphone-leading 4,500 nits brightness, just like on the OnePlus 12. Let’s not forget the fingerprint sensor placed on the screen.
Realme GT5 Pro is the newest of the phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor that Qualcomm released this year. This chipset is paired with 12 GB / 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM options. UFS 4.0 storage is also available, going from 256GB up to 1TB.
When we look at the triple rear camera setup, we see a 50 MP main camera. This sensor is accompanied by a 3x 50 MP periscope camera and an 8 MP ultra wide-angle lens. At the front, a 32 MP selfie camera welcomes us.
Realme GT5 Pro has a 5,400 mAh battery, just like the OnePlus 12. There is also 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support here. The device, which has an IP64 durability rating, comes out of the box with Android 14 based Realme UI 5.0.
It has the features of opening the phone with the palm of your hand and controlling it with hand gestures.
The phone has a feature reminiscent of the LG G8. There is a palm-based unlocking thanks to the sensor on the front of the phone. Realme, which does not share details about the sensor, says that the lock can be opened and closed by bringing the palm closer to the screen.
Moreover, hand movements are not limited to these. The company has also added a feature it calls “artificial intelligence-supported motion control system”. This feature, which resembles what we have seen on LG and Google, allows the phone to be controlled with certain movements. The company has added 12 different movements for control.
