I really continue to be surprised every time a headset comes from Razer. Razer produces really nice models with its workmanship quality, comfortable and comfortable design, and very satisfying sound production, and frankly, it manages to surprise me with every new model. This time I have the Kraken V3 Pro model. I used it for a while and I have to say that I like it very much. I will talk about it in detail, but first I want to open a box. It has a very tidy and extensive box content.
As you lift the lid of the box, you encounter the Kraken V3 Pro. It looks very nice. Let’s put that aside for now, I’m going to talk about it in detail anyway. Just below is the USB transmitter. We are used to Razer thinking about USB caps in almost every product. Don’t lose this USB cover, you can store the USB transmitter stylishly when you don’t plug it in. The microphone and charging cable are on the top edge of the box, and the analog cable is in that compartment.
Yes, now let’s take the Kraken V3 Pro in our hands and start explaining with the design details.
How is the design?
The Kraken V3 Pro uses Razer’s classic headphone design with large, circular over-ear headphones. Thick, soft memory foam is used on the earpads, leather lining on the sides, and breathable fabric for the surface that touches your head, and this surface is wrapped in plenty of faux leather covered memory foam. So when you put this headset on your head, you feel completely enveloped. It is quite comfortable, by the way, it fits very comfortably. In addition, passive noise cancellation has been brought to the next level due to the thick driver pads. The headset does this job really well, the ambient noise is kept to a minimum.
The left earcup houses most of the Kraken’s controls and connectors, including the volume wheel, power button, mic mute button, USB-C port for charging, a detachable boom microphone connector, and a 3.5mm port for using the headset wired. On the other hand, the right earpiece is quite plain. Here is the HyperSense button, which we’ll talk about in more detail, which lets you activate haptic feedback only.
As you can see, it’s an RGB-patterned headset by the way. There is an RGB light ring on the back of each earpiece, and you can adjust them to display a variety of colors and lighting effects with Razer Synapse software.
The headset has an 8-stage skid system. Thus, it is designed in a structure that can be adjusted according to every head size. This mechanism is pretty solid, by the way. They are not likely to break unless you deliberately forcibly bend them.
How is it Connected?
In terms of wireless connectivity, the Kraken V3 Pro works best with a PC. With Razer Synapse software, you can customize settings and enable various audio features, including THX Spatial Audio. But of course, this is not the only option. The USB transmitter of the headset also works with Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 – PlayStation 5, by the way. The 3.5mm wired connection is compatible with any device with a headphone jack, including an Xbox controller and Nintendo Switch. However, the headset does not have a Bluetooth connection, so you will either use the USB transmitter or the analog connection.
Clean Voice Chat
Razer has specialized in producing headphone microphones and the level reached shines with the Kraken V3 Pro. The headset’s unidirectional cardioid boom microphone captures full and clear audio while reducing outside noise. In the test recordings we received, our voice came out very clean. In addition, environmental noise is seriously reduced to a minimum. In this sense, we can say that the conversations are at a level that can be easily understood. In other words, it will not cause problems in in-game communication. If you are broadcasting, you can also use it, but here of course, it will not replace professional microphones. If you’re thinking about professional broadcasting or podcasting, it’s better to get a separate USB microphone, but this microphone works quite well for in-game chats that are the main topic.
What is HyperSense?
Now, Kraken V3 Pro has a feature called HyperSense. We can also see this in the logos on the sides of the headset. This is a feature that we find very impressive in practice, because it elevates the in-game enjoyment to the next level. The headphones’ drivers are equipped to provide haptic feedback. In other words, we can roughly say that HyperSense is a haptic technology integrated with the sound drivers in each earphone.
The HyperSense event provides haptic feedback to the sound coming from the headphones. Vibration motors in each earbud activate with the sound, adding a physical feel to the sound. But don’t think of it as a classic vibration motor. The system transforms the position, duration and intensity of the sound into realistic vibrations and delivers it to your ear. Thus, with these vibrations, Razer aimed to enable the player to feel the sounds in the game effectively and thus to put the player into the atmosphere, and did an exceptionally successful job in this regard.
You do not need to use Razer Synapse software to set this up. The button on the right side of the earphone works for this. By pressing this button, you can gradually adjust HyperSense in 3 intensity levels or turn it off completely. Thus, you can easily determine the vibration strength. Also, you do not need to download any additional software to use the HyperSense feature. It works out of the box, not just in games, but in gaming and music sessions as well.
By the way, an important note, this feature works not only with the USB transmitter, but also with the devices you connect with a 3.5 mm analog cable. So you can use this voice feature on every platform. Ha, this feature is automatically disabled for charging efficiency when charging the headset, that is separate.
How is the Sound Quality?
Of course, the fact that such headphones are in the “gaming headset” category does not mean that they will only be used in games. It has to offer multimedia entertainment at its best. That’s why we experience it in music and movies as well as games.
The Kraken V3 Pro produces particularly strong bass sounds. Especially in the song “Silent Shout” by The Knife, which is famous for its bass sounds, you can feel the kick drum beats deeply even when you disable HyperSense. In addition, a critical detail, even at maximum volume, there is no distortion in the sound. And if you turn on HyperSense, the engines start to pound in your ears at the same time as the beats and bass synth notes, giving you the feel of a subwoofer. Really successful. We found the bass and vocal performance of the headphones to be extremely successful in the different music genres we listen to. Turning on HyperSense will immerse you more in the rhythm of the music, especially for booming songs, but it’s better to disable this feature for other music genres.
The same issue is valid in the movies, aside from the fullness of the low voices in the dialogues, we can say that it is a full action headset with explosion moments. It was good to watch The Empire Strikes Back once again after a long time.
We used Kraken V3 Pro in many games at the point of play. We can say that God of War Ragnarök, which we have been playing for a long time recently, had a complete feast. The roars and flutters of creatures echo in your ears. We had a lot of fun, especially in the scenes where we hunted dragons.
On the other hand, it also makes full and clean sounds in Fortnite. Gunshots are quite strong, and other effects, such as trampling grass, are easily heard in the headphones. The THX Spatial Audio feature also provides a robust simulated surround sound effect, offering very strong left-right directionality and a sense of whether a sound is coming from the front-right or rear-right.
Let’s open a parenthesis to HyperSense here. It would not be right to use this feature in every game. Sometimes it can distort the simulated surround effect that THX Spatial Audio provides. Therefore, it is important to adjust the level of this feature according to the game or turn it off completely. As we have already said, you can easily do this with one click.
Conclusion
Frankly, the Kraken V3 Pro has been a very successful headset in all aspects. From its design to its comfort, from its success in passive noise canceling to its musical performance, from the atmosphere it creates for gaming to its HyperSense feature, it has been a headset that we liked. By the way, let’s not go without talking about battery life. The headset’s battery lasts for 10 to 12 hours with HyperSense and RGB lighting on. If you use them closed, they have a very long endurance of 44 hours. This is also very satisfying. Frankly, it’s been one of the most intriguing headphones we’ve reviewed lately; It can offer an unmatched audio experience. It has become a model that should not be missed, especially for players who want to feel the game atmosphere deeply.
