Especially in recent days, we see that graphics card models with low VRAM have been renewed with higher memory capacity. So much so that we have mentioned to you that the RTX 3060 Ti model has been updated with new generation memory. Now the latest example of this is the Radeon RX 580. The top model card of the Polaris architecture is back on sale with double the memory capacity.

Radeon RX580 modded with 16GB VRAM

If we remember, Radeon RX 580, which was showcased with a price tag of $ 229 in 2017, was introduced with the Polaris P20 die based on the 14nm process node, 36 CU (Processing Units), 1340Mhz increased clock speed, 8GB GDDR5 memory and 256-bit memory bus. Thus, besides the players, it became one of the most preferred graphics cards, especially during the mining boom.

Today, new reports from China show that the RX 580 8GB model is back on sale with 16GB memory capacity. Official review results of the revamped card have not been released yet (due to its availability in China), but the pictures added to the listing confirm that it runs on the WHQL certified “23.5.2” driver. So for this card, we see that AMD has official support. In addition, the Radeon RX 580 16GB is available for a reasonable price of 599 RMB / $ 83 compared to the increase in memory capacity.

Shared synthetic benchmarks show that the new RX 580 lags behind the GTX 1060. However, the relatively new GTX 1650 and RTX 3050 still manage to outperform mobile GPUs. Of course, behind this lies the fact that the card has a much older architecture. While these results are disappointing, they can be useful in applications that require high VRAM.
