Quentin Tarantino: “Marvel Actors Are Not Movie Stars”

American film director Quentin Tarantino is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in Hollywood. The filmmaker, who has made many cult productions from Pulp Fiction to Inglorious Bastard and is remembered with his unique style, has been talking about superhero movies that are very popular today.

The award-winning director has recently announced that he will not direct Marvel or DC movies. Tarantino, who likened working in such films to “paid jobs”, said that he thought superhero productions would suddenly fall out of favor in the future. The 59-year-old filmmaker has now made new statements about Marvel.

According to Tarantino, Marvel actors are not movie stars, but the characters who are the real stars.

The filmmaker, who was a guest on a podcast called ‘2 Bears 1 Cave’, stated that there are no real movie stars anymore because of the Marvel’s of Hollywood. While Tarantino said, “It’s part of the Marvelization of Hollywood, that these actors are famous by playing certain roles,” he added that the Marvel actors are not actually stars, but the characters who are the stars: “These people aren’t movie stars, are they? Captain America or Thor who is the star. I’m not the first to say this. It has been said many times before. But that’s the way it is, it’s these kinds of characters that are the real stars.”

So you see, Quentin Tarantino, with this controversial statement, says that Chris Evans is not a star, Captain America is the real star. The famous filmmaker adds that he did not make such a statement to belittle them, and that this is a result of Hollywood’s becoming Marvel.

Tarantino adds that he doesn’t hate Marvel movies, he just doesn’t like that these movies are just being made these days.

The two-time Oscar winner also added that he doesn’t hate Marvel movies, he just doesn’t like that Hollywood is willing to make just these movies these days:

“I loved Marvel comics when I was little. I would be very happy if these movies came out when I was in my 20s. Nor would they be the only movie released at the time. They would be among other movies. As you know, I am 60 years old. So I’m not really excited about these movies. The only thing I don’t like is that only these movies are made. They’re the only things that get fans and even studios excited. These movies are the only thing that represents the current era. There isn’t much opportunity for other things. That’s what bothers me.”

In addition to these statements, Tarantino recently described today’s film era as the worst in history. The famous director also talked about his own films, saying that he thinks his best film is the 2019 production Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, which received mixed reviews from critics and viewers.
