Qualcomm has turned its face to the mid-range segment. After the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip launched in the past months, now the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is next. The features of the new processor are revealed by Evan Blass, one of the famous leak sources.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 features
The resulting image is similar to the documentation Qualcomm uses for its processors on its site. However, Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 features are included in detail. When we look at the details of the new chip, we see that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 will come with a 2.2 GHz Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU. There is no information on the number of cores, but an octa-core design is likely to be used.
In addition, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip will be produced in a new 4nm process, unlike its segment. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip also runs through the bands on the 4nm process node. On the other hand, with the progress in the processing process, it can be expected that the new chip will be more successful in energy efficiency than the previous models. The chipset also seems to have received new LDDR5 RAM support, which is supported up to 12 GB.
On the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 side, there is support for the FHD + display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which may cause disappointment. Frankly, we would expect at least QHD 1440p support here. What the chip promises on the camera side is triple 12-bit ISP support that comes with Qualcomm Spectra ISP. On the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 side, three 13 MP, 25 + 16 MP dual camera or 48 MP single camera setups are supported. The new chip, which comes with 108 MP photo support, also enables 30 FPS 4K video recording.
In addition to all these, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip was created by blending with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, Quick Charge 4+ features. In addition, the chip, which is 5G compatible thanks to the Snapdragon X62 modem, benefits from 5G mmWave technology that promises 2.9 Gbps download speeds. Let’s also mention that the chip, which has the product code SM6450, finally supports USB 3.1 Type-C and dual sim.
