When we think of Qualcomm, the first thing that comes to mind is smartphones. Known for the Snapdragon processors it produces for smartphones, the company stepped into the CES 2023 fair with a very different concept. The US-based company came up with a very different car to introduce the Snapdragon Digital Chassis concept at the technology fair.
Snapdragon Digital Chasis concept hosts new technologies
The concept, designed to show how automakers can benefit from the company’s technology and services, comes up with a coupe-shaped SUV body. The concept vehicle, which looks quite different with the LED lighting groups surrounding it, exhibits a sporty stance with its sloping roofline at the rear.
When we move into the interior, the 55-inch digital screen that we are used to seeing gradually greets us. One part of the screen, which acts as a digital instrument panel when the necessary information is conveyed to the driver, while the other parts are held responsible for the management of the infotainment system. On both sides of this huge screen are smaller screens that reflect images from cameras used instead of side mirrors.
The actual technology is very different from these. In the concept car, the operating system that can recognize the passengers and automatically adjust the vehicle settings according to the person stands out. The car, which detects the driver through the cameras, makes the seat and air conditioning settings accordingly. In addition, the applications and contents that the person uses the most come to the fore on the infotainment system screen.
The concept car also features customizable active noise and reverb settings for each passenger. In this way, when a person is talking on the phone, noise from other areas is reduced, providing a better conversation experience. In addition to the face recognition system, the vehicle also has voice control. In this way, users can perform many functions simply by speaking.
Taking steps in security, Qualcomm stores the images by recording the surroundings in the event of an accident. Thus, an image is also provided for insurance companies and law enforcement officers in the actions to be taken after the accident.
Qualcomm’s concept car, of course, was not designed for production. However, with the concept car with us at the CES 2023 fair, the company’s latest automotive solutions are exhibited. In addition to the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Qualcomm also introduced the Snapdragon Ride Flex, which includes a digital cockpit, advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving systems. This system is scheduled to go into production next year.
