It was noted that Qualcomm’s new modem is compatible with 5G Advanced networks and provides a more stable connection. The modem uses artificial intelligence to offer stable connectivity in places with poor reception, such as underground or in an elevator.

The Snapdragon X75 5G will replace last year’s X70, which was used in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 based smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and OnePlus 11 5G. The Snapdragon X75 complies with revisions 17 and 18 of the 3GPP specifications, which set the standard for the next evolution of 5G technology. Qualcomm has redesigned the X75 to equip it with a combined 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) transceiver with higher speed and bandwidth and up to 6 GHz (sub-6GHz) band designed for wide coverage and macro networking. In addition, the modem is 25% smaller and consumes 20% less power than the previous model.

May be released after the second half of 2023

The new modem software was developed with a focus on improving connections in areas with poor signal quality and strength, such as elevators, garages or underground trains. Designed to find the most suitable cell for optimum connection on the go. A second-generation AI accelerator helps improve location accuracy in challenging environments such as dense urban high-rise buildings.

The Snapdragon X75 is currently in testing and won’t appear on devices until the second half of 2023. The modem will undoubtedly be found in many Android smartphones, but it is not yet clear whether the chip or another special version will be used in future iPhones.
