Although MediaTek has lost its sales figure in the mobile chip market, it is still the leader in terms of revenue. In the last quarter of last year, Qualcomm increased its revenues exponentially with the effect of intense chip demand.
Record fourth quarter from Qualcomm
According to the company’s statements, revenue of 10.71 billion dollars was achieved in the last quarter of last year and there was an increase of 30 percent on a yearly basis. Net income was $3.4 billion, up 38 percent year-over-year. This was the firm’s most successful quarter.
The chip division generated a total revenue of $8.85 billion and grew 38 percent. In this segment, mobile device chips also brought in $5.98 billion in revenue. Among other segments, automotive earned $256 million, licensing $1.81 billion, connectivity chips $1.13 billion, and the Internet of Things $1.48 billion, with significant increases.
The growth of the mobile device market means the growth of Qualcomm. While the effects of the pandemic and the global chip crisis are expected to decrease in the new year, it is estimated that the rise in the mobile device market will continue.
