Can offer battery times of more than 20 hours
To recall, at the Snapdragon Summit event held last month, Qualcomm announced its Oryon processor brand, which targets more powerful devices such as desktop PCs and laptops. Today, WinFuture has managed to reach the details of the first processor in the series. According to reports, this new processor, codenamed “Hamoa”, will have a 12-core design consisting of eight high performance and four efficiency cores.
Qualcomm is reportedly testing two versions of the Hamoa chipset with model numbers SC8380X and SC8380XP. According to their model numbers, the new processors will be the successors of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset codenamed SC8280. In addition, it will be equipped with a Snapdragon X65 5G modem that offers UFS 4.0 storage and download speeds of up to 10Gbps.
It is also stated that the new chipset is produced using 3nm process technology. This shows us that it will offer much higher performance and power efficiency. Ultimately, we could be looking at MacBook Air-like battery times of more than 20 hours on Windows laptops. Considering Samsung’s plans, the new Orion processor Galaxy Book models may launch towards the end of next year.
