Qualcomm announces world’s first and fastest WiFi 7 solution

After MediaTek became the first company to showcase WiFi 7 technology, Qualcomm also developed the first commercial WiFi 7 solution. The FastConnect 7800 chip combines WiFi and Bluetooth technologies.

What will the Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 offer?

Introduced as Qualcomm FastConnect 7800, the new WiFi 7 solution is based on simultaneous high-band multi-connection technology. It gives the highest output with 320MHz in the 5GHz band and 240MHz in the 6GHz band, while the 2.4GHz band is reserved for low-power WiFi and Bluetooth.

Thanks to Qualcomm 4-Stream DBS (2×2 + 2×2), for example, a phone can be connected with a 2×2 port, while a virtual reality helmet can use the other 2×2 port. This results in very low delays. In addition, interference of the 2.4GHz band is also blocked.

Theoretically, speeds of 5.8Gbps in the 6GHz band and 4.3Gbps in the 5GHz band can be reached. With a delay time of less than 2ms, energy savings of 30-50% can be achieved even at peak times. In addition to WiFi 7, which will use the 802.11be definition, standards such as Bluetooth 5.3, ANT+, Bluetooth LE Audio will also be included in the chip.
