Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 will bring cellular connectivity to Windows operating system laptops thanks to Qualcomm’s 5G modem and external GPU support. It is not known whether the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 will have Orion cores, but performance cores are said to run at 3.4GHz, while energy efficient ones are said to run at 2.5GHz.As for the system cache, each block with 4 cores is said to have 12MB shared L2 cache, 8MB L3 cache.
Qualcomm will not develop a new GPU for the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4; It will use the same graphics processor (Adreno 740) in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The new processor is said to support up to 64GB of LPDDR5X. It is said to include support for WiFi 7, an external Snapdragon X65 5G modem, as well as discrete GPU support via 8-lane PCIe 4.0. Video encoding and decoding performance is also said to have improved significantly.
