Python strengthened its position and reaffirmed that it is the most popular programming language. According to analysts from TIOBE Software, Python has seen a 2% increase in popularity this month, reaching an all-time high of 15.42%. Now it is difficult to find a programming area where this language is not used, with exceptions.
Chinese companies shared details of their algorithms for the first time
A year ago C was the most popular programming language, now it has dropped to second place. Java, C++ and C# are also in the top five. Not much change compared to last month. Swift and PHP have switched places again, Rust is nearing the top 20, Kotlin is back in the top 30, and Google’s new language Carbon is already at 192.
The list is updated every month
TIOBE Software has been ranking the popularity of programming languages for 10 years. Its analysts count search queries from Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon, YouTube and Baidu. The popularity index is updated monthly, taking into account the number of qualified professionals worldwide and the courses available.
It’s important to remember that the TIOBE ranking doesn’t necessarily mean that a particular programming language is the best. It also doesn’t take into account the amount of code written. The published list can be used to check which language programming skills are currently available and to decide which language to choose for a new project.
